ken burns the dust bowl. (It can be found on netflix) Amazing I have never heard much of the dust bowl, let alone seen a documentary on it, and this is the perfect relatively thorough look at it, but in the styling’s of Ken Burns, with lots of image panning, but it also includes interview with people that lived it and video as it’s a more recent event.
Nanking (it can also be found on netflix) as the name suggests its on the rape of nanking. I had heard about it before and how horrible it was but I had never really learned about if from any documentary or class, and wow was it ever bad… The documentary itself is just really well designed with no narrator but instead chines and Japanese people that lived through it along with the few westerners that stayed (even a German Nazi who ends up being a really amazing guy). I liked that it showed the actors vocing the people that I assume were no longer alive, as it really added to the video and they were good actors to
Cropsey (It can found on Netflix Canada) and basically takes a in depth look at a local new jersey legend of Cropsey, a urban legend that abducts/kills kids and the truth surrounding this enigma.
Killer Legends (It can be found on Netflix Canada). From the creators of the Cropsey Documentary it’s the same basic idea but with 4 different myths and the realities behind them. The legends they examine are not even the ones that have relatively well known truths behind them. It was well edited and while I wish the documentary could have kept going on as I enjoyed it so much, none of the stories felt underdeveloped or overstayed their welcome.
30 By 30 Documentaries. In particular into the wind, the story of terry fox (found on American Netflix), A Canadian icon that tried to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research after losing his leg to cancer. His inspirational story has led to the national terry fox day in Canada where school aged kids go for runs in order to raise money for cancer research to keep the terry fox dream alive.
Addicted to plastic. Can be found on Netflix Canada. It was a really cool documentary when I first saw it many years ago and it provides a history and list of concerns about plastic. At the time it was one of the only documentaries I could find on plastic. However I have not seen it in many years and I am concerned that the information it presents may be untrue or biased in some way as is often the nature of these sort of expose documentaries so take what it has to say with a grain of salt I suppose
Absolute Zero[22] . The history and science behind the race for race for a temperature so low all matter ceases movement.
Grizly man[23] the story of the life and tragic death of a person that spent much of their time around grizzlies. You may have actually seen this one, but still it’s not super well known off the internet I imagine.
Ken Burns: Prohibition[24] Found on Netflix, just like is sound like, it’s a history of the prohibition, so if you like the other ken burns do you will like this too.
Secrets of the Tower of London[25] A neat little behind the scenes look at the tower of London, and how it functions on a daily basis for tourists.

1) If you're working, keep your eyes open to other jobs. The best time to look for jobs is when you are employed, as you don't have any pressure on you. One of my teachers recommended spending atleast 30 minutes a week job hunting, just to see what's out there. This is such great advice, I've had opportunities that would have just slipped me by, had I not followed this.
2) Dedicate 15 minutes a day to cleaning your house, and you'll never have large clean ups to do again. 15 minutes isn't much, but it adds up, it's a win win. No more having a trashed house, with huge clean up periods.
3) Don't put dishes into the sink when you're done. If you're living alone, just use a couple plates, forks, spoons, etc. Wash them as you use them, use a rack to let them dry, get them from where when you need them again. Only takes maybe 20-30 seconds to wash a plate and fork, why use tons of spoons, forks, plates, creating huge dish loads for yourself? If you are living with someone, get a system where you wash off dishes, and load them into the dishwasher instead of the sink. Things are already in there to be washed, how convenient!
4) Get TWO hampers, one for whites, one for darks. Do you know how much time you save, not having to sort things?
5) Dedicate 30 minutes to exercising a day. If running is to boring, go play racquetball, kick a soccer ball with a friend, whatever. This makes such a huge difference in not only your fitness levels, but your general mood, and sleep. I can't state how big of a difference this is.
6) Foot inserts are worth the $10 to $15 they cost, go use the machine to determine what you need, and put those nice gel ones in your shoes. You won't believe how much better your back, feet, and everything else feels, especially if you're on your feet alot.
7) Spend some time to do something nice for someone each day. Maybe send some flowers to your girl, or just something simple like sending a text to tell someone you appreciate them. You won't believe what a difference this makes in your general attitude towards life, they've actually proven you can rewire your brain in this regard.
8) Take some of your computer time to research, whatever it is you want to read about. I find I start reading about one thing, something else is mentioned, and it's a chain reaction, I'll read all kinds of articles. I've built up an immense knowledge of various subjects from this, learning is great.
9) Make sure to always find time to go have fun. Don't EVER get into the work, eat, sleep grind, where you have no outlets in life, it's a toxic living. Make time for yourself to get out and do something you enjoy, like bowling, swimming, hiking, whatever. If you have a hobby you enjoy that involves exercise, even better.
10) Always look to improve yourself. Don't run from your problems, confront them. When you screw up, instead of hating yourself, think about why you made a mistake. Think of solutions, better prepare yourself, so next time, you'll handle it better.
11) Learn to never speak when angry, seriously. Nothing gets accomplished, you won't believe how much better your relationships get if you learn to take time to cool off when you're upset. 95% of the stupid, hurtful things you will say out of anger, or spite, can be avoided by simply cooling off for a few minutes.
12) Approach people, never worry about rejection. You'll open all kinds of doors in your life, be it friendships, relationships, business connections, all kinds of things. Stop ruminating and being paranoid, just get out there and meet people.
13) Save money, there is always a way. Budget correctly so that you can save money, even 100 a month is fine if that is all you can do. Next time you have to buy a new set of tires, or your washer goes out, you'll be thankful you did. You won't believe how much heartache you can save in life by following this simple rule. You may very well avoid needing to take out loans and other things that people do to ruin themselves financially. There is always a way to save some money if you try hard enough, and are willing to sacrifice a little.

7zip:[1] In case anybody doesn't know, the freeware compression/decompression utlity of choice for zip, rar, etc
Abyss Web Server:[2] Host from home.
AutoHotkey:[3] Very powerful open source tool can script+customize macros, hotkeys, everything input related within the Windows environment right down to mouse clicks.
Bulk File Changer:[4] Batch utility for altering file attributes.
Cabos: file sharing client for the Gnutella network. Not as much customization as the shareware Limewire but it does the same job.
CDisplay:[5] CBR/CBZ format sequential reader, which are rebranded zip/rar extensions popular for image archives such as comic books, guitar tablature, etc.
Cheat Engine:[6] Extensive memory editor/manager. sort of like Game Genie/Codebreaker for PC.
ClassicShell:[7] Restores many of the Windows features that were stripped for Win7 including disk free space on Explorer's status bar, restores toolbars, the classic file copy dialog, etc.
Crosshair:[8] Replaces the mouse cursor with an origin point along x and y axis and is surprisingly more handy than you might realize.
CPU-Z:[9] Simple utility for monitoring system components+performance
DC++:[10] File sharing client for the Direct Connect network that was providing a superior experience over the official Neo Modus client for years.
DriverSweeper:[11] I've been using this for some time to clear old drivers from systems.
EaseUS:[12] Several great products like Partition Manager and Disk Copy, generously free for personal use.
EasyBCD:[13] You would want this in order to manage boot loaders and restoring+repairing broken entries under Windows.
eMule:Yet another file sharing client, for the eDonkey and Kad networks. I believe eDonkey is shut down now but Kad seems fruitful.
FileTypesMan:[14] All the features Microsoft stripped from file extension management in Vista and 7, and all the features they should have implemented in the first place.
Filezilla:[15] Fully featured freeware FTP client.
Flare:[16] Decompile Flash swf.
Foxit:[17] Freeware PDF reader as the less annoying alternative to Adobe.
Go PlayAlong:[18] Shareware guitar tablature player for Guitar Pro formats. Just recently got into it, but I love the mp3 sync feature for backing tracks.
HJSplit:[19] Who could live without a handy file splitter-joiner?
HTTrack:[20] Downloads web site resources to generate a mirror for offline browsing. Use responsibly.
inSSIDer:[21] Seems to be the wifi scanning tool of choice now days.
JoyToKey:[22] J2K can map controller input to keyboard keypresses, useful if a game fails to provide joypad support when they should have. Results may vary.
KeyTweak: Remap keyboard keys.
Less Msiérables:[23] Extracting contents from a .msi file.
Microsoft GIF Animator:[24] Classic, no frills tool for creating gifs.
Microsoft Power Toys:[25] More from the "why isn't that built into XP by default" category, includes utilities like CmdHere that will add a directory context to Explorer for opening a command prompt at that target location.
Opera:[26] Yeah, all those features people rave over Firefox? Opera was doing them years prior.
PeerBlock:[27] Monitors connections and blocks many of them based upon lists of registered IP ranges belonging to various government, anti-p2p, etc. agencies.
PowerMenu:[28] Adds 'always on top' and other functions to Windows. I think I got this for some emulators lacking it.
Programmer's Notepad:[29] My preference for a text editor+Notepad substitute. All the best features like code differentiation formatting, tabbed organization, managing projects.
Putty:[30] Excellent Telnet+SSH client with great functionality. I've been using it for my *nix shell as far back as I can remember.
ShellExView:[31] If you want to cut down on some of the unnecessary shell extensions crowding the right click menu under Windows Explorer, this is a handy way to do it without manually editing the registry.
Soulseek:[32] Used it for gathering some hard-to-find music way back. Because it runs off users shares, it doesn't have the shorter lifespan of most torrents but it's more manageable than Limewire and those types.
Sumatra PDF:[33] Seems to be a popular lightweight reader. Has one .dat file for preferences, doesn't require an installer and supports numerous file formats.
Sysinternals:[34] Every one of these should come packaged in Windows by default. All the utilities you may want as a Windows power user are here including Process Monitor and Autoruns.
Utorrent:[35] My favorite bittorrent client to date. They're not kidding about the lightweight and efficient part. Also customizable and fully featured.
WatchCat:[36] Really old program for a few functions like toggling visibility of windows to hide them from observation. It was great for hiding the omnipresent banner ads in some software through the 90s. I'm sure there are some potential uses for it even today. Still works under Windows 7!
WinDirStat:[37] Very useful utility builds a graphical table of any drive or directory tree in order to quickly identify consumption.
Windows Resource Hacker:[38] Can import+export the resources of Windows formats including exe, dll, ocx, etc
XN Resource Editor:[39] If Resource Hacker isn't up to the job any more, there is Resource Editor.
XVI32:[40] My preferred hex editor.

This is my personal list of the best Flash games of the last 10 years or so. For many of these, the entire series makes the list, but I'm just listing the best game here. I am excluding Point N' Click games because I don't enjoy them. So without further ado:
-Grey Matter[1] This is an "antishooter". It's an incredibly unique take on the Shmup genre not for the faint of heart.
-Don't Look Back[2] From Terry Cavanagh, the creator of VVVVVVV and Super Hexagon, this game is a simple 2D platformer/shooter that retells the story of Orpheus. What makes this game great is not the gameplay persay, but rather the way it uses gameplay to tell a story. AAA designers should take note of games like this.
-Z-Rox[3] is a one dimensional puzzle game. As bizarre as that may sound, this game really pulls it off. You will find yourself boggled by how amazingly challenging one dimension can be.
-Tr-Achnid[4] is a journey. It's crazy and alien, but it is totally unique. Some may find problems with the pacing of the game, but I think the unique control scheme and well designed puzzles more than make up for it. One of Edmund's early games.
-Amorphous+[5] - Built on a simple mechanic, Amorphous+ finds ways to bring incredible depth to it. This top down hack n' slash game is highly immersive and has hours of gameplay.
-Spewer[6] is a puzzle game based on throwing up. That should make most of Reddit fall in love with it right away. The puzzles are great, the diversity of vomit types keep the game interesting, and the sound effects and level design are top notch. Oh, and it's made by Edmund. If you like the Edmund games I listed here, you can buy them in The Basement Collection[7] on steam to support him and get some extra goodies.
-Super Mario 63[8] - This fangame manages to capture a lot of the best parts of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine in a 2D demake. It has a few minor glitches, but you will feel like a kid playing Super Mario 64 again the whole time you are playing. That alone is worth it in my opinion. This is literally the best mario fangame I've ever seen. (Oh, and it has a level editor for infinite content.)
-The Space Game[9] is a hybrid of mining games, tower defenses, and real time strategy games. It manages to hit all of the high notes of all three genres. It's perfectly crafted to have simple gameplay that applies to tons of different situations and keeps your strategy bones tingling the whole time. If you want more, The Space Game: Missions is an expansion pack.
-Portal: The Flash Version[10] - Originally debuting just before the first Portal game came out, this game managed to capture the core puzzle mechanics into a beautifully coded 2D puzzler. It lacks the humor aspect of portal, but the puzzles and strategy are completely intact. This should be the first stop for anyone who is a fan of the Portal series and of Flash games.
-Aura Braver[11] - This Shmup is one of the more unique choices on my list. It was originally ignored upon it's first release and seen by only a few thousand people. I found it amongst one of the Hidden Treasure competitions on Newgrounds along with about 100,000 others. The core mechanic of this game is just so fun to play around with and makes the gameplay different every game. This may not have the level of content of other games on this list, but it is easily worthy of more notice than it has gotten for it's polish and fun.
-Level Up![12] - Level Up! is a hybrid of RPG and Metroidvania genres. This game is so fun to play and has such a great mechanic that I replay it every few months. It's a 2D platformer in which you level up and learn new abilities by doing them and gaining experience for that skill. (For example, jumping a lot levels up your jumping and lets you jump higher.) One of my all time favorite games.
-Hero's Arms[13] is a blatant Legend of Zelda rip off. Yet even so, it's the best I've seen in that genre. It feels very much like playing the original LoZ condensed into a short Flash format. A great way to spend an afternoon.
-Wrath of Anubis[14] is a hardcore puzzle platformer. It's a bit like Super Meat Boy, but with physics that are much less slippery. I love to speedrun this game and try to optimize my routes through it. Anyone who is a fan of the Platform Hell genre should give this game and/or it's sequels a try.
-Robot Wants Kitty[15] is a simple Metroidvania and the first in a series of multiple games. The mechanics are simple and the objective is simple, but it's rare to find well implemented Metroidvanias anywhere. The later games really carved out a niche for themselves with unique mechanics, fun puzzles, and awesome level designs. I choose to start here however, at the series humble beginnings.
-Super Mario Bros. Crossover[16] is a fangame that recreates the original 2D Mario experience and level design perfectly. But then it adds all of your favorite 8-bit and 16-bit characters to the mix to create gameplay that you have to experience to understand. If you've ever wanted to shoot Goombas as Samus, this game is for you. In addition, the creator has started a kickstarter to make his own game in the same style with characters that aren't copyright. If you enjoy the game, you can learn more about his new game or donate here[17] .
-Motherload[18] - It's been said before and it will probably be said again. This game is amazing. Motherload recreated the mining game genre and stole dozens of hours from unsuspecting children and teenagers across the planet. This is a core experience for every Flash gamer and shouldn't be missed. They are now working on a sequel for Steam. Super Motherload has been greenlit and will come out after they release it on PS4. steam greenlight page here.[19]
-intrusion[20] is the single best 2D shooter on the internet. It has a ragdoll physics system that is incredibly fun and great gameplay mechanics and enemy encounters built around it that will keep you riveted to your seat from the moment you start playing until the end. There is a sequel on Steam[21] if you enjoy the game as much as I did.
-No Time to Explain[22] is a zany and fun short platformer. It's about time travel, lasers, dinosaurs, and much moar. There's no time to explain more about it, just go play quickly! (You can find a sequel on steam here:http://store.steampowered.com/app/227280[23] )
-Rebuild 2[24] - This is a zombie survival strategy game. It drops you in a randomly created world tasked to survive long enough to find a cure or die trying. I lost days to this game trying to find the optimal way to win with each of the possible victory conditions. It's simply one of the best flash strategy games out there.
-William and Sly 2[25] is the most beautiful Flash game I've ever played. The graphics will awe you constantly as you search for pages to unravel a mystery. The pacing is calm and laid back and nothing ever rushes or hurries you. If you want a chill afternoon of gaming, look no further.
-Snailiad[26] - This Metroidvania has a great design, awesome power-ups, great humor, and inspiring level design. If you are a fan of the Metroidvania genre, you can't miss this game. I mean come on, it's a game about Snails!

Compliment three people each day
Watch a sunrise at least once a year
Over-tip breakfast waiting staff
Look people in the eyes
Say “Thank You” a lot
Say “Please” a lot
Live beneath your means
Buy whatever kids are selling on card tables in their front yards
Treat everyone you meet as you want to be treated
Donate two pints of blood every year
Make new friends but cherish the old ones
Keep secrets
Don’t waste time learning the tricks of the trade. Instead learn the trade
Admit your mistakes
Be brave. Even if you’re not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference
Choose a charity in your community and support it generously with your time and money
When in traffic always pull up behind someone with enough room to pull around them if required
Use credit cards only for convenience, never for credit
Learn about religions
Give yourself a year and read any great book you have always wanted to read cover to cover
Learn to listen
Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly
Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all he or she has
Pray not for things but for wisdom and courage
Never take action when you are angry
Have good posture
Enter a room with purpose and confidence
Don’t discuss business in elevators
Never pay for work before it’s completed
Be willing to lose a battle in order to win the war
Don’t gossip
Beware of the person who has nothing to lose
When facing a difficult task act as though it is impossible to fail
If you’re going after Moby Dick, take along the tartar sauce
Don’t spread yourself too thin
Never underestimate the power of forgiveness
Instead of using the word ‘Problem’, try substituting the word ‘Opportunity’
Never walk out on a quarrel with your mate
Regarding furniture and cloths, if you think you will be using them five years or longer, buy the best you can afford
Be bold and courageous
When you look back on your life you’ll regret the things you didn’t do more than the ones you did
Forget committees. New, noble, world-changing ideas always come from one person working alone
Street musicians are a treasure. Stop for a moment and listen, then leave a small donation
When faced with a serious health problem, get at least three medical opinions
Wage war against littering
After encountering inferior service, food or products, bring it to the attention of the person in charge. Good managers will appreciate knowing
Learn to say ‘No’ politely and quickly
Don’t expect life to be fair
Park your car at the end of a row or under a light at the far end of a parking lot
Never get into your car without looking into it first
